Nitrate (6.5bmintues total; 2 test bottles- purple)

      

1. Make sure that you have the appropriate nitrate test solution  bottles (2 purple bottles) AND COLOR CARD ( “Freshwater Nitrate(NO3)”)

2. Using pipette, fill the vial with the water sample up to the black line

3. Add 10 drops from nitrate (NO3-) test solution bottle #1 (dark purple label) to the vial

4. Screw the cap on the vial and mix the vial multiple times to make sure the test solution drops are mixed.

5. Shake nitrate (NO3-) test solution bottle #2 (dark purple label) for 30 seconds

6. Add 10 drops from nitrate test solution bottle #2  light purple label 2 vial.

7.  screw the top on the vial and mix in invert the vial for  1 minute 

8.  wait 5  minutes and compare the color of the sample to the freshwater nitrite color card

9.   once you have recorded the results on the data sheet  dump the contents in the waste water container

10.   rinse with distilled water
